windy druid good without good gear

[:1]i no there not good till higher levels but can they solo hell with meh gear?

like shako and spirt ,viper stuff like that. without dieing every dam second like my shockadin -_-|||I would say yes... with a caveat:

As long as you consider going max block, even if it's just on swap while keeping a more caster-y setup on the other swap (maybe Wizspike + Whistan's Guard with Dual Spirits on swap?), as long as you train yourself to re-cast Cyclone Armor often/as needed, AND as long as you take care of the one glaring weakness of Windys by getting Decrep on your merc.

2 best ways I know of to get Decrep are:

Act2 Merc (can be HF if you like) with a Reaper's Toll

Act5 Barb Merc with Lawbringer in a Ethereal Elite sword.

With either of these mercs, you can pretty much slap a fairly cheap Glad Bane and any old Vamp Gaze you can get your hands on, and they will stay alive. You can even socket your merc's gear with UMs and SOLs to taste, altho obviously you might want to wait til you are wealthier before considering wasting runes like Um on a merc =p|||why swap and what is the one weekness glaring on windys?|||Quote:

You don't HAVE to swap, but if you hate dying as much as I do, then going max block on almost any char makes sense. So many archer packs in Hell....

But you don't have to be max block, and even if you do you don't have to keep a caster swap if you don't wanna bother, it's just that dual Spirits are so cheap to make and would give you that extra +skills oomph when you in a safer place where you might not need blocking.

The glaring weakness of Wind Druid is Cold+Physical Immune monsters. They are resistant to both types of your char's dmg... which is why you want Decrepify on your merc so he can knock off their PI status and make them killable.

A Wind Druid with a Reaper's Toll Merc usually has no troubles toodling around Hell.|||alright thanks im gunna went for my temp ban to be over and make a druid

my second windy in HC ladder killed Hell baal with a viperskin, spirit sword and mosers shield. I also am a firm fan of act 5 merc with lawbringer until you can trade/find a reapers for your act 2 merc. holy freeze merc helps allot once you get the reapers...his freeze aura slows the mobs better then your hurricane in hell|||Quote:

One of my ladder windy's soloed the game with terrible gear (pre-1.11 easy spirits). Suicide branch, rare armor, etc etc. With no gear it's a bit slow going but very, very safe. Went max vit and no block on that fella.|||Yes just get resist and +skills and you are all set.|||follow the merc ahoy. with the damage amplification and defensive shield of decrep it is a joy to let the big boy tank while you hurl tornadoes crushing the enemies|||Spirit wolves also make great meatshields, so you probably shouldn't need block (although if you can get it with a decent shield it wouldn't hurt).
