Wind Druid Viable Untwinked?

I was just wondering what class i should make for the ladder reset and wind druid sounds like fun, but is it viable to play one untwinked for a ladder reset?

I would use him for MFing and possibly going for 99 and maybe some pvp later so give me your opinion on how well it would work.

Thanks|||I tool one nto lvl 77 or so one time. The most irritating thing is if you don't have a way to rush or play in group, leveling until 24 is a pain in the rear, because you will not have a viable skill until then. I already had a Spirt sword and some junk so that helped a bit. I think you'll need a lot of patience and imagination to develop it in reasonable speed. After lvl 30 with decent gear, is ok and even fun build to play.

Edit: on a second thought, you could now play until 24 as Fire Druid and use the new Reset stat feature to redistribute your skills later...|||Yep, just stick with fissure until you get some decent gear, or even until end-nm or hell.|||Yes of course wind druids are hell viable when starting out. But first use fire skills and then respec the druid to wind at a later level when you can distribute a lot of points into tornado.

If wind druids can top pvp when fully geared then why cant they be a good character to start out on the new ladder?|||Being good PvP is not the same as being good PvM.|||You can use Wind Druid for Pit runs. Only problem might be Fana Archers.|||Quote:

Well you can build a decent 99/99 windy with cheaper gear setup than one of those 163/152 windys with extremely expensive gear. But wind druids are decent for pvm.|||Summon Druid can be very powerful in lower levels as well. Just started one to mess around before reset. No twink and he's holding up really well. Only time his health got below half so far was taking on Andy with 5 or 6 other people in the game.

Of course normal isn't exactly tough to do. Might even be able to get to NM just speccing carrion vine and a spirit |||A wind druid is a very strong character to play through the game with untwinked. I beat hardcore D2 solo in 1.10 with terrible gear (this is before the +2 class runewords and spirit).

While you may not be in the top 3 builds for kill speed, you:

-Are practically immune to fire/cold/lightning damage.

-Use two elements for your attacks, making most immunities moot.

-Enters the fray with an insane amount of life thanks to Oak Sage while buffing allies.

-Can be geared out very well with cheap runewords (spirit + lore + spirit + stealth).

I'd recommend leveling until 40 (20 tornado + 20 oak) or 60 (20 tornado/hurricane/oak) using fissure, and then respeccing wind to handle hell immune enemies.|||For mf/gf so far favourite build of mine. I made windy early 1.12 and now 1.13 (quite late but anyway) a hammerdin. And windy is so much better than lamerdin who has problems hitting in pits. And archers eat him alive. And he's slow.

So definite 'yes' for Windy.
