Ice Hunter

I've been making a hunter style druid, lvl 51 atm. I was thinking of building his skills, etc around the ice runeword bow. I was wondering if, along with maxed oak sage, grizzly, dire wolves, etc, would it be feasible to use hurricane, boosted by the bow, cyclone armour and pre-requisites as a secondary attack skill?

I use +skill stuff, so even if i invested 2 or 3 points into tornado and twister, id be looking at a reasonable boost for hurricane. I'd change my merc for an act 2 might, to give the summons a boost.

Cheers, tell us what you think.

P.s useful forum, thanks.|||i'd think that getting the hurricane into range would be dangerous and ultimately not do enough damage unless you maxed all the wind skills. using ice alone for it's cold aura is a great idea though.

wait for others opinions though... it might work.|||I too have the same concerns as CDM. Hurricane requires a closer range, and a bow druid is not going to want to be that close.

I'm going to throw another idea out. How about a HoJ bow? It's the fire version of Ice. Also has ITD so AR wont be an issue against most enemies. You can use a spell like Volcano to stay out of range. You can get a Holy Freeze A2 merc to keep things around you under control.

The hardest part is getting your elemental skills to be relevant damage wise without much Synergy investment. Especially if you are taking more of a summoner route to skill investment. Between you, your merc and grizzly, you'll have the physical covered. But you wont have any way to get around PI's if you can't get your Ele dmg up enough.|||Cheers mr blow,

I use volcano and a holy freeze merc atm, but i hadnt looked at Hand of Justice. Id been looking at ice, harmony, wrath, faith, brand and call to arms(with added sacrifice of slower bow).

I was also thinking of using a bow merc, freezing arrow, with ice bow and a runeword armour with an aura, to stack with fanaticism, if i had faith.

Can't decide...

Shakey|||stock up on respec tokens, try em all out, then report back here

ps. i really like the fire huntermentalist build and a cold approach looks cool (unintentional pun). maybe you could find a nice pair of gloves with freezing arrow charges, wouldnt that be fun.|||Hmm... now that I think about it, another interesting thought occurs. I am too lazy to check myself, but consider the following if you will:

Find out first the exact distance Hurricane is from you. Is it 2 yards or 8? I don't know myself. Anyways, once you know that, compare Ice with Doom, and see which radius of Holy Freeze is closest to just a few yards LARGER than Hurricane.

Now, you can attack from a range, and whenever enemies close in on you, they will be chilled in one yard and then be pummled with their next step.

Wow! Now THAT sounds like a build! :D|||Quote:

You only get Level 1 Freezing Arrow (22 Charges) on item level 64-97 gloves, and Level 2 FA (25 charges) on ilvl 98-99 gloves.

Hurricane has a 6 yard radius, level 18 Holy Freeze has a 15 1/3 yard radius and level 12 HF has an 11 1/3 yard radius.|||Cheers for the replies.

This is why i was so intrigued in the first place, with HF, hurricane and the frost nova that casts every time you hit something, nothings getting close for a while. Think im gonna make up an Ice bow, run it for a while and see what gives.

What are respec tokens?

shakey

ED* Just need a 4 socket great bow now...|||Quote:

Each of these bosses drops an essence.

Andy/Dury drop the same one.

Meph

Diablo

Baal

Put 1 of each of the 4 essences into the cube and you'll get a respec token. Basically it allows for unlimited respecs as long as you have a character to farm the essences.
