Advice on Elemental Druid

Alright, I'm looking to build an Elemental Druid of either the Fire or Wind persuasion. I've read through the guides and both seem good but arguably which is stronger PvM?

I'm thinking of going either with this fire build:

20 Fissure

20 Volcano

20 Firestorm

20 Grizzly

1 Oak Sage

The rest in pre-reqs as needed

And this is the wind build:

20 Cyclone Armor

20 Tornado

20 Twister

20 Hurricane

1 Oak Sage

1 Grizzly

Pre-reqs as needed

Assuming I have the best gear (HotO, Enig, Mara's, Infinity on Merc, etc) would a Wind druid fare better in Hell or would the Fire druid?

Thanks in advance!|||Wind does better than Fire for the most part. There are a lot of Fire Immunes in Hell that Infinity won't break which will slow you down a good deal. An Act 2 merc with a Reaper's Toll will break most physical immunes meaning your Tornados will kill just about everything. That said, I have a Fire Druid and enjoy him a lot.|||I second what clock said.

Wind is better because it's Cold/Physical and has less problem with immunes. I believe there are more fire immunes in the game than any other.

Fire is a lot more fun though, it's just inconsistent. A casting of Armageddon can be almost completely useless when none of them land where you need them too. Fissure gets pretty decent at high levels, and Volcano is the same inconsistent type of spell.

I'm not sure if an unsynergized grizzly will be enough to get the job done. You might be better off going with Wolves for more distractions, but I don't know much about druid summons. I guess between merc and grizzly you can deal with most immunes.

If you want efficiency and fast clears, Wind is the way to go. If you're bored of the cookie cutter builds a fire druid can be a nice distraction.|||Fire Huntermentalist! Not as fast as a Windy but extremely fun!|||Look up the bow Hand of Justice in that case

Perfect for the build.|||Fire/Wind hybrids are also a possibility. Not the fastest, but more enjoyable than either of the 'pure' and hunter-builds to me.|||Quote:

i second this. it is a fun, active build. you're always doing something.|||I've always played windy. I enjoy the spec a great deal. Fire has some excellent graphics, tho, and every time I see a rolling boulder of death or Armageddon in action i want to re-roll but windy's dual element is a very solid balance. I've had multiple windy's run hell baal in HC.

Aside from that all the above ideas work well, i've alwasy been attracted to the idea of a huntermentalist. Play HC mostly, so i tend to play safe tho and default to windy. Harmony could be an interesting option for a hunter too..the summons charges arent that pricey, and the thorns can only help|||Wind druids are the best out of all the elemental druids. Also best to start out with.|||man, windies blow (pun) to start out with. since respec came about, i dont expect anyone to actually start any druid as a windy. the fire tree is very good up until late nightmare - early hell. heck even if you just got your guy to 25-30, he'd be better off as a fire druid. before respecs my first windy had one point in firestorm and molten boulder. they were much more useful than arctic blast and cyclone armor. there's no good attacking wind skill until 24.
