PvM Wind-Fury Druid Cheap WSK runner

[:1]Intro:

I love to do WorldStone Keep runs, a semi randomized maze with great drops. Had a lot of fun with Nightfishes WSK ama, quite cheap to create, one downside on it though was the fact it took quite long to kill Baal. Hammerdin's/lightsorcs/... are options but get quite expensive and lets say I'm not a real fan off them. My aim is still to create a cheap and fun char that can kill multiple mobs and down Baal fast and easy.

The Wind druid is able to do so, Hurricane and Tornado are great Skills to kill multiple mobs at once, Only vs Baal it's sometimes very annoying with his pushbacks, manadrains, walking around, hiding in a corner, copying himself... U have to be able to aim very good to get a fast Kill.

Fury druid on the other hand will win hands down vs single opponents, but when your surrounded your wolf just seems to pummel anything within his reach. With a expensive weapon your set, but Wind will kill packs easier with a cheap setup.

There are already some great guides written here for both so why not combining these? I won't go into deep detail about Wind/Fury, there are already guides stickied that cover the whole story.

I Pro & Cons

What can u expect:
+ Fast at killing multiple mobs at once

+ Fast Act Bosskiller (25-35 sec Baal, Diablo is a joke)

+ Decent defense with summons around, and Cyclone Armor

+ U can combine Hurricane + Fury vs an act Boss!

+ >99% FCR to reach the 11 Frame Breakpoint

+ 8/5/5/5/5 Frame Fury attack
- U will never be as strong as a purely Wind/Fury geared druid, however u will fill some weak points they have.

- AR! not many point in Shapeshifting: u will have to get quite some items/Charms with +AR, + skill will provide u also an AR Boost

- Physical Immunes go down slow, Succubi are Nasty in packs.

- Fast-Fanatized-Death Lords Pack's, we all love those.
II Skills

Great thing here: Wind is already finished with 81 points, there has always been a big debate were to put the remaining points,

Summoning 5 Points
  • Raven 1

  • Spirit Wolf 1

  • Oak Sage 1

  • Dire Wolf 1

  • Grizzly 1

Your 5 Ravens will annoy your enemies and blind them

Grizzly makes a nice tank, I tend to use it as decoy.

Oak Sage is also nice, will admit it dies alot but u can recast it easy

Skip the Heart of Wolverine, not really needed and dies very fast @ Baal's

Elemental 81 Points:
  • Arctic Blast 1

  • Cyclone Armor 20

  • Twister 20

  • Tornado 20

  • Huricane 20

Elemental defense, stun, physical + frost damage,

Shape Shifting +5 Points
  • Werewolf +1

  • Lycanthropy 1

  • Feral Rage 1

  • Rabies 1

  • Fury +1

Up to u where u put the remaining points, Werewolf will net you 15% AR/lvl, Fury 7% AR/lvl and 17% ED/lvl.

I chose Werewolf: since I also use Feral rage at the start vs Baal.

III Stats

As always:

STR: enough for gear (156 for Monarch)

DEX: enough for gear, more if u fancy Max block

VIT: all rest

ENE: nothing

IV Gear

Your gear will have to be a tradeoff between caster and melee gear, below items will do the trick,

Not all resists will be maxed, not really needed when u can recast Cyclone Armor + I carry antidote potions in the Belt.

Cheap Set (1-2 Ist):

  • Jalal's Mane - Skills, resist, +AR%, FHR, 30@ a Solid piece of Equip

  • Highlord's Wrath - 1 Skill, 35% lightning resist, 0,375%/lvl Deadly Strike! Nice tradeoff caster vs Melee, Really recommended

  • Skin of the Vipermagi - 1 Skill, 30% FCR, 20-35@ again solid piece, upgrade it to have more defense

  • Spirit Sword 2 Skill, 25-35% FCR, mana etc

  • Upgraded Shaeled Ribcracker on the switch -50% CB, 50% IAS, 100% defense, Really recommended, it hits like a Truck, a 15% IAS with AR/ED Jewel is even better then Shael.

  • Spirit Monarch - dito sword

  • Laying of Hands - 50% Fire resist and +350% ED to demons, Really required: bosskiller gloves!

  • Arachnid Mesh- 1 Skill, 20% FCR... Probably the most "expensive" item here but worth it, a cheaper alternative would be IK Belt

  • Gore Rider - 15% CB, 15% Deadly Strike. CB is great till Baal gets to 50%, the extra 15% DS will make almost half your hits do double damage, A cheaper alternative are the IK boots, they have 110 AR + combined with IK Belt another 50AR and 25MF.

  • Raven Frost - aim for high AR, Dex, Cannot be frozen, your AR will shoot up from this one

  • 2nd Raven Frost again high AR, with 2 Ravens u just double your overall AR

Torch

Gheeds

AR charms I got 6 Large Charms with AR between 50-70, adds on them with + damage or Dex are a nice to have. Keep 16 spots open to get drops/spare potions.

Merc:

Act 2 Normal Offensive! (With Blessed Aim)

This Merc will give u +330% AR on lvl 75, might is also an option if think your AR is already solid

Weapon: The Reaper's Toll - Decripify is great for caster and wolf, Insight is usefull for the early levels

Helm: Guillaume's Face

Armor: Duriels/whatever

This setup gives u on lvl 80:

elemental:
  • +12 to Elemental Skills

  • At least 100% FCR > 11 Frame Breakpoint of 99%

ShapeShifting:
  • 15 skill Werewolf (Switch to Werewolf then swap to Ribcracker! + 60% AR + 20% Life this way)

  • 11 Skill Fury (with Ribcracker u loose +4 skill from the double spirit)

  • +730 % AR combined

  • 65% Crushing Blow

  • >45% Deadly strike, almost half of your hits wil deal double damage

  • +350% ED to Demons (LoH)

  • 8/5/5/5/5 Frame attack (Shaeled or +15% IAS Ribby)

  • lvl 3 Venom (from Arch belt )

MF set:

Would recommend u get used to the gameplay with above gear first then u can add some MF gear,

I wear a PTopazed Shako + Wartravelers + Ptopazed Viper + Gheeds and have 171% MF now,

HoTo + Skullder's + ring with 10% FCR and AR would be a nice addition, more expensive and u will loose some AR,

V Tips, Hints and Tactics

- Like Nightfish always suggests: try and kill the Boss packs and don't just run to the next lvl. Baal rarely drops something good, there are many bosspacks there and all drop TC87.

- Don't overdo the MF gear, 170% MF and fast killspeed will already net u a lot, the next 100% MF won't net u much more unique drops and will lower your killspeed.

- Keep your Cyclone Armor up, with above setup you will have 75% light resi but Gloams still hurt!

- I use the Grizzly as decoy: put it behind/on gloams/Succy/Dolls to keep em busy.

- PI: Your merc can decripify, Grizzley soak damage + Twister stunn etc, If there are 2 many Succy just skip them.

- Nasty Death lords: Twister till your merc gets Decrip on them.

- Waves, for wave 3-4-5 already start putting a carpet of Tornado's on their spawnpoint, Mind the hydra's, your Merc dies quickly frop them.

-Prepare for Baal: Recast Cyclone Armor, Hurricane, switch to Werewolf then swap to Ribcracker! (+ 60% AR + 20% Life this way)

Conclusion

If u want a fun cheap char with nice killing speed Wind-Fury druid is a good choice. lvl80 might be a bit low for WSK though, around lvl83-84 your merc will stay up longer and you should have less and less trouble. Just look at your Full rejuv's: If they start piling up in your Chest your doing well!!

I'm currently lvl87 and have around 11700 AR with Merc and with above 171%MF gear on (74% chance on hitting Baal).

U really have try a Baalkill yourself: Crushing Blow will soften him up, your normal hits will already hit decent. However if your merc get's the Decripify on and u land some Deadly Strikes, he will start puking out his guts fast.

Special thanks too all the Stickied Druid guides that urged me to try this out and NightFish ofc!|||I don't want to rain on your parade, but isn't a Reaper's merc with some CB (Guillaume's Face) fine for boss-killing?|||Just equipped my merc with Guillaume's Face and Tried Baal out. Improves the kill speed indeed. Struggles a bit with knockback and Baal clone though. I'dd better scrap Tal Helm and add Guillaume's Face, helps on the waves also.|||Plain old windy does the job well.

Merc with Guilly's n Reaper beats bosses.

You need more MF.|||why not use windhammer over ribby? you get the cool ctc effect and it has the same CB%.|||Quote:

Strength req at a guess|||meh! he's using spirit shield so it's not like he's saving a huge amount anyway. besides, he's not advocating blocking, so you'll have stats.

like his build is tight enough that he cant spare 69 stats?|||Running WSK - MF char.

Ribcracker up'd Shael'd, COH, Wisp, any dungo, Jalal Ptopazed, War Travs, Mara, Raven, Gheeds, SS GC, 7 MF SC, 7 Lifers, 1 Max/AR/Lifer GC. You could do it with a wolf! ---- Should have >240MF

MF

30 Ptopaz in Jalals- Much better with shako

20 COH - Much better with Enigma

30+ Gheeds

40+ War Travs

7x7=49

wisp = 10-20

179+

With Shako or Nigma it would be much higher MF. I would actually just use a Ptopazed Shako - I couldn't bring myself to Ptopaz a good Jalals lol.

With just a Fury WW wearing MF gear you would be more effective - your not teleporting anyhow. So Sup with that? Doing just Shenk, Pindle, WSK, Baal - your good to go. a WB with SW would just make it easy.|||Quote:

Would rather opt for a Ribcracker:

324-485 damage on mine vs 254-349 for a perfect Windhammer.

No CTC but 50% FHR, 100% def, 15Dex (60AR), and 69 Str spared.

Base dmg on Stalagmite is only 0.5 Less then Ogre Maul.

Would indeed be nice build but then CoH and Enigma aren't exactely cheap options.

U reccon u kill groups faster with this setup then a Windy? PI rely on Merc?

Have to say that my last runs with Reaper/Guilly merc he holds up pretty good @ Baal. Kill him faster with Wolf then Wind though, but can understand that full wind rely on their merc there.|||Fury with Ribby doesn't even need a merc lol. It kills faster than your setup.

Honestly COH and Enigma are not that far out of reach if you had the Fury with Ribby setup - with that you could find enough with MF and trade to get one. That's how I got mine - so it works.

Edit:

Royalairface -

A for Originality and as it stands - you got a winner! ----- for a rockin' build you made - it's always people who play and follow through with builds that are fun - that are winners in this game!!!

Good job - entirely obvious that you thought it through.
